A US federal judge denounced the treatment of expelled Venezuelans as worse than that inflicted by the Nazis. The government is seeking to overturn an injunction prohibiting their deportation under a 1798 law, the Alien Enemies Act, which allows the expulsion of nationals from countries at war with the US. Over 200 Venezuelans were expelled to a maximum-security prison in El Salvador under this law.
